Hi, I’m Celia, the owner of The Polka Dot Bakery.
I bake all my vegan & gluten free goodies in my home kitchen and bring them to Old Spitalfields Market every
Saturday and Sunday to sell to my amazing customers.
I started The Polka Dot Bakery in 2016 when I turned 50.
Previously, I had a busy music career as an orchestral musician in London and a violin and viola teacher.
But turning 50 was a huge point in my life and I decided to give my career up and open a full time home bakery.
I started selling my baked goods at local markets and food fairs, progressing up to bigger
Food Festivals in London, Essex, Suffolk & Cambridge.
Then in February 2020, I got invited to sell at Old Spitalfields Market.
I couldn’t believe that my little bakery was now in London. But………
Look at the date…. Yes I started in London 2 weeks before the first Covid Lockdown.
Here’s me on my first weekend with the ever wonderful Yotam Ottolenghi who popped by.

A lot has changed since my first weekend at Old Spitalfields and now everything is all vegan and all gluten free too.
Now in 2024 I can’t quite believe my bakery is thriving and how much I love it.
So I’ll be back after my holidays on January 20th and 21st to kickstart 2024.
